Praying for your spouse might sound cliche right? But anyone who has been married for a while, knows that there are days you do not feel like praying for your wife or husband because of the hurt inflicted.
This hurt could be; disagreement of opinion or anger issues, infidelity, pressures like barrenness, in-laws, finances etc.
It does not matter how hurt you are; healing begins when we pray in spite of the hurt. This contrary reaction to how you feel is the game changer in building a strong marriage, filled with healthy love, miracles and much more.
Do you know that seeds only grow when put in the ground, and this requires scattering the ground for the seed to take root ?
So it is in marriage. When hurting and you both cannot see eye-to-eye, it is actually the best time to kneel and pray for one another, for conflicts are simply pointers that there is still work to do in us!
I am yet to see someone who genuinely prays for their spouse, still harbouring hate and unforgiveness in their hearts.
For when you pray – the Lord begins His work in your heart, then your spouse and ultimately the marriage.
Dear friend, will you genuinely pray for your spouse today?
Let us pray:
Dear Lord, I am hurting right now, please strengthen me with your love. Open my eyes to see this situation through your eyes of love and above all, heal any hurt in my spouse’s heart in Jesus name, Amen.
